TGIF: Come On In

Since we're certain we will be closing escrow on this house I thought it would be beyond embarissing fun to post the photos from the MLS that depict how it actually looks right now. All of the negatives aside, I am in love and I can't wait to make it my own. We'll be making a few changes to the place before we move just to update it enough to be able to live in it.  New paint throughout and new paint (and hardware) for all of the cabinets. We'll be removing all of the ceiling fans and installing can lights and crown moulding. Slowly, over the course of the next few years we will really tackle large remodeling projects like rehauling the kitchen and expanding the master bath, replacing all of the windows/sliders, building a jacuzzi in the courtyard and terracing the back slope. In the mean time, lets take a minute to peruse our new house.

Dreaming of Wood

Our new house has standard 8 foot ceilings so we can't get too crazy but we're thinking we may install reclaimed wood planks on the ceiling in the master bedroom ( much like the first photo below.) However, I'm a little concerned that the addition of the planks will make the room feel small and claustrophobic. What are your thoughts?

Cocktails Anyone?

There is nothing I like more than  an adult beverage or two when I get home from work (you can see where we enjoy our cocktails now.) We currently keep bottles of vodka, rum and tequila in our freezer, just like our old college days. But now that I'm not afraid of my parents seeing bottles of booze in my house I want to showcase them in style. When I saw Emily's (of Cupcakes and Cashmere fame) industrial flea market find I knew I had to have one.

Not to stuffy but totally inviting! I'm now on the hunt for one of these used carts!

Table Rock

Ok... So I've already broken my promise! I didn't post yesterady... but in my defense it was a holiday!! Anyways, hooray for a four-day work week! Table Rock Beach is litterally 200 yards from my house... and I really wish I was sitting in a chair, reading a book and getting a little sun right now.

TGIF: I'm Stumped!

Maybe my next promise should be to stop trying to be clever? Anyways, I am sooo in favor of using stumps (three in my case) for our yet-to-be-built-from-reclaimed-wood dinning table in our yet-to-be-ours-new house. Bryan thinks the way to go is to use two stumps to make a bench... thoughts?

In other news, our final inspection is this morning (homeowner's insurance)... there is talk that we may close escrow by the end of this month! Cross your fingers internet!

Happy Friday!

A lot to be happy about!

Yesterday was our two year anniversary. We had a romantic dinner, shared a wonderful bottle of wine and constantly 'hooray'-ed over the purchase of our new house. To quote the thoughtful note that accompanied my tulips:
2 years, an engagement, and a house... that's a lot to be happy About!

On the Dotted Line

We put an offer in on the outdated-but has-a-ton-of-potential house that overlooks the 11th hole of a golfcourse in San Clemente. We submitted our offer on Sunday and it has been a grueling two days. It's a property owned by more than one person so both need to agree to our price... The word from our realtor is that one of the persons involved has signed on the dotted line accepting our offer and the other has verbally agreed and has committed to signing today. You know what all of this means!!!! Poor blogging about diy projects and renovations!! Hoorah!

A photo of the view off of the back patio of what could potentially be our new house!
